The Southern Nevada Bluegrass Music Society is a 503c non-profit celebrating it’s 44th anniversary this year. We are committed to the preservation and promotion of bluegrass.

While the 2017 Viva Las VeGrass was our inaugural event, unfortunately tragic events would play out on the Strip just days before our scheduled opening. The actions of a maniac that resulted in 58 people being killed and hundreds wounded at the Route 91 Festival were not only incredibly heartbreaking as Las Vegans and music fans, but as planners of the very next outdoor music festival held in town.

We deliberated and agonized over the decision as to whether to still hold the event in the wake of the shooting. Safety of our attendees was foremost in addition to being respectful to the Route 91 victims. When we decided to go forward, we had two goals: Make it as safe as possible and give 100% of the gate to the Las Vegas Victims Fund. We felt this was the right thing to do. We also had a GoFundMe account and challenged all bluegrass clubs nationwide to match our donation.

We presented Deacon Tom Roberts, Co-Chair of the Las Vegas Shooting Victims Fund a check for $6750.00 on January 8, 2018 at our annual meeting. Please help us make this festival a success again this year by attending and enjoying a wonderful weekend of bluegrass.
